Nottingham, Student City

As a student city, Nottingham isn’t short of bars and clubs - not to mention renowned music venues such as the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham Rock City and Nottingham Arena. Interestingly, Nottingham is also home to Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem pub, which claims to be the oldest in the UK, having been founded in 1189.

History fans can, of course, explore Nottingham Castle or nearby Sherwood Forest, while footie fans can catch a game at either Nottingham Forest or Notts County - for cricket fans there is Trent Bridge cricket ground, which has seen some classic test matches down the years.

Home to the legend of Robin Hood and 300,000-plus people, Nottingham is one of eight English core cities. Nottingham claims that it’s “one of the cleanest, greenest and least car-dependent cities in the UK”, and for good reason. The past few years have seen extensive extensions to its tramline, while regular buses and trains service the city centre.
